Located in the James River Valley, Our Saviors Lutheran Church was built in 1948 and is uniquely made from rocks gathered from the local fields, thus dubbing it the "Stone" or "Rock Church".

What's Happening:

Coming SOON!
Our Savior's Old Fashioned Christmas Worship Service
will be held on the first Saturday of December.
So, please join us on
Saturday, December 3rd, 7:00 p.m.
Join in as we step back in time to when things were simpler and our main focus of Christmas was the Birth of Jesus our Savior and Lord! Included in our Worship Service will be the Christmas story with a children's live nativity, candle light singing of Silent Night in Norwegian, German and English, traditional Christmas hymns with the use of an old pump organ, the traditional Christmas tree with handmade Chrismons as decor and the traditional Christmas sack with peanuts for the young people who participate in the service. Young guests may find that they may recieve one also.
Following the service there will be fellowship and lunch served with a number of ethnic foods.
Feel free to come dressed in an older era of clothing, like from the 1950's, 1920's, 1880's or wear one of Grandma's Sunday hats or Grandpa's old bibs with a suit jacket. You can also come in your regular attire, just Come and Worship Jesus!
Come and Prepare for the Birth of Jesus!!

Please Note:   Because we will be worshiping on Sat., Dec. 3rd, we will NOT hold Worship Services on Wednesday, Nov. 31. We will resume regular Worship Services on Wednesday Dec. 7th.

We are currently having Worship Services at Our Savior's on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. We are still searching for a pastor but Rod Goldammer, a lay person, is gracious enough to lead us in services so that we can once again worship together as a congregation. Please pass on the word. Feel free to join us!! If you wish, you may call Barb to make sure services are on.

Our Savior's Lutheran Church is available for special services.

As the call committee searches for a pastor, we do ask everyone to please keep both churches in your prayers that a pastor that is a good match for each church and one that the churches are good for, is found. There is no doubt that a good fit is out there, just waiting for God to bring us all together.

The end of July we had our 2022 Bible Fun Days with 24 young people participating. We talked about how God made each of us fearfully and wonderfully! On the evening of the last day we did have Worship Services with lay people participating along with the young people. Following the service we had our traditional 'Build Your Own Ice Cream Sundae!' The time was deemed successful. May God's Blessings be with each child, their families, the helpers and teachers.

"150th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION for OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH" held October 10th of 2021 and was deemed a success. We do understand that some people were not able to join in the festivities due to the increase of covid cases and we certainly missed them. God was good to us and in spite of covid we had a very nice turnout of people. It was great to see some former pastors and members, not to mention some local community members and a good number of the Akland Family. Having grandchildren of Cora Akland, who donated the land for the church, present, was a real joy! Thank you to ALL who were able to help us celebrate!

There are extra memorabilia for sale: mugs with the church on it or a 150th Anniversary history booklet for sale at $10 each or a plate with a picture of the two previous little churches and the stone church on it for $40. If interested do give Barb a call.

Any Questions, please call Barb at 605-660-1410.
